The Essay\/Poster Contest is open to all students in the 5th through 10th grade<\/strong> from<\/span><\/p>

schools in Chicago and surrounding cities.<\/span>
The purpose of the contest is to foster an interest in engineering through research, essay writing,\u00a0<\/span>creating a poster, and interacting with engineers.<\/span>
Students submit an essay and a poster about either one of the following:<\/span>
a) an engineer who contributed to society. The student should provide details of the<\/span>
contribution\/accomplishment of the engineer, or<\/span>
b) major engineering project. The student should provide the details of the project.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Rules:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

1. The students are divided into three groups: 5th & 6th grade, 7th & 8th grade, and 9th & 10th grade.<\/span><\/p>

2. There will be at least three first prize winners (one from each group).<\/span>
3. Students may either enter individually or partner with another student from the same grade.<\/span>
4. The selected engineer must have received an Engineering Degree from a university. Note that architectural degree, general science degree, etc. are not accepted.<\/span>
5. The essay must be typed and between 250 to 500 words<\/span>
6. Contestants should Fill The Entry Form Below<\/b><\/span>\u00a0and include the following:<\/span>
a) Poster:\u00a0
Submission<\/strong>: 1-slide in\u00a0PowerPoint<\/b>\u00a0format. The slide should be neat, creative, with photos and text. Font size should be a minimum of 16 points
Presentation<\/strong>:\u00a0Winners will be notified prior to the event and\u00a0are required to print their own 24×36 inch poster<\/strong>\u00a0for presentation at the Washington Award Event<\/span>
b) Essay: in PDF<\/b> Format.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The winners from each group will receive the following:<\/span>
