AAAEA-IL is pleased to announce Steve Schilke, Project and Environmental Studies Section Chief, IDOT D1, and John Sherrill, Bureau of Design and Environment, IDOT, to be the keynote speakers for our March luncheon Seminar on Thursday, March 24.
Mr. Sherrill has been with IDOT for 9 years. He is responsible to ensure the National Environmental Policy Act, environmental justice, and public involvement are followed for complex projects. Prior to IDOT, Mr. Sherill worked 21 years at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. From 2001 to 2018, Mr. Sherrill taught a summer course in Environmental Law at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Mr. Sherrill has a Master of Science in Geography from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Mr. Schilke has been employed with IDOT since 2002 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri. During his 20 years of service, he has worked in the Bureaus of Materials, Construction, Design, and Planning, and is currently the District One Bureau of Programming: Project and Environmental Studies Section Chief, which involves overseeing Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Studies in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area.
