  Topic:

“Kingery Expressway Reconstruction Project” –
The Kingery Expressway is the point at which Interstates 80/94/US 6 enter the State of Illinois from Indiana. In 1995, the Illinois Department of Transportation initiated studies for the reconstruction of the Kingery, from Interstate 294 to US Route 41 in Indiana. The expressway was over 50 years old surpassing its original design by more than 30 years; it did not meet current engineering standards and due to condition of the pavement, it was in need of major reconstruction.

This presentation will provide a summary of some of the controlling factors during the development of the Phase I study and the preparation of the design plans for the reconstruction.
