Ghadire Haikal is currently a member of national executive board for AAAEA.
Ghadir Haikal is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Tishreen University, Syria), and M.S. & Ph.D degrees in Civil Engineering (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Dr. Haikal’s research focuses on developing advanced computational models for simulating the response of complex structures and materials to extreme loading events. Dr. Haikal received several awards among them: the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship for graduate study for 2002-2004, American Arab Association of Engineers and Architects Student Scholarship in 2007, and the 2009 Mavis Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois.
She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Engineering Science, and the United States Association for Computational Mechanics. Dr. Haikal joined the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects in 2007 as a student member. She is currently the interim president of the Indiana chapter and a member of the national executive board.
Dr. Haikal’s objective is to connector the AAAEA student members with Arab American professionals to optimize their opportunities.
