On April 20, 2017, AAAEA-CA held a very successful technical exchange and networking lunch meeting at the Offices of the City of Los Angeles' Bureau of Sanitation. Over 30 professional joined the meeting. The topic was "Industrial and Municipal Stormwater Compliance - from challenges to opportunities." We had 3 great speakers representing our industry. Dr. Shahram Kharaghani, Watershed Program Manager for the City of Los Angeles, discussed the City's stormwater compliance program including the Enhanced Watershed Management Plans that rely on capture, infiltration and reuse while providing multi-benefits. Mr. Paul Alva, Stormwater Program Manager with the County of Los Angeles, discussed the County collaboration with other cities on a watershed based stormwater management that provides water resiliency. Mr. David Renfrew, Director of Water Resources with Alta Environmental, discussed the challenges and opportunities for industrial and commercial facilities for stormwater compliance. It was clear that there is huge needs for the compliance with the stormwater program and additional funding, collaboration and innovation is needed. The audience had an engaging discussion with the speakers.
