On Saturday, May 14, 2016, AAAEA-CA Southern California Chapter hosted the Semi Annual Dinner Gala Event at the Grand Catered Event in the City of Orange. As always and keeping up with the old tradition it was a sold out event attended by about 125 people. Ms. Janeen Obeid was the MC kicking off the event with warm welcoming statement, reiterating what AAAEA stand for in helping out the engineers, architects and IT professionals in our community and the needs for collective participation and support from everybody. Our event’s Keynote Speaker was Mr. Michael J. Sarullo, PE from the Environmental Engineering Division in the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering.
The recipients of the AAAEA-CA Professional Achievement Award were three accomplished individuals Ms. Kay Alabed, DDS, President of AESCO, Mr. Adam Chamaa, PE, GE Vice President of AESCO, a construction materials testing and inspection service firm and Dr. Issa Nesnas, Team Leader at JPL supervising the Robotic Mobility Group that made it possible to put a Rover on Mars. Dr. Nesnas was the guest special guest speaker for the technical seminar that took place back in February 2016.
The highlight of this mid-year event was the award of 9 Scholarships to well deserving students from various California Universities totaling $7,000.
The entertainment was provided by DJ Danny and Mr. Ramy Youssef an Arab American Comedian from Hollywood California.
Special thanks go to all our event’s sponsors without their continued support and generosity over the year the scholarship program would not exist. All in all it was a successful event thanks to all our AAAEA-CA colleagues and members who worked diligently to make it happen.
