National AAAEA Scholarship Program

PURPOSE

The scholarship award is established by the National AAAEA and is presented to Undergraduate and Graduate students in the areas of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology on the national level.

AMOUNT

Depending on the availability of funds, the scholarships will be awarded annually in a determined amount. The names of the winners will be announced by October 29, 2017 at the Annual AAAEA National Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The winners will receive a scholarship certificate and a check.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The NAAAEA scholarship is available only to student members of the AAAEA who are attending an accredited college or university. Students who will be graduating in Spring or Summer semesters of 2017 are not eligible.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The applicant must complete and submit the following materials:

  1. The Scholarship Application Form.
  2.  An official college transcript indicating course grades and cumulative grade point average. Telephone scan images will not be accepted.
  3. A letter of recommendation written by a faculty member (from the student's field of study). Letter shouldn’t exceed one page.
  4. A letter of recommendation from the local AAAEA chapter.
  5. An adequate description of the applicant's extracurricular activities. The description should highlight relevant work experience, participation in AAAEA National and/or Local Chapters, student/campus activities, involvement in community organizations or a combination of these.
  6. An essay addressing a current engineering event in the applicant's field of study that happened within the last two years. The applicant needs to demonstrate understanding of such topic and its relevance to his/her field of study. If the Scholarship Committee deems it necessary, a Fifteen (15) minute phone interview may be scheduled with the applicant.

The “Application Quality” criterion will be an assessment of the applicant's submittal for neatness, organization, spelling and proper English language.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

All application materials are due to NAAAEA no later than September 15, 2017. Incomplete applications or late applications will automatically be discarded.

Applicants will be notified by email of the final decision.
