Capital Area Seventh Annual Dinner Gala

The AAAEA-Capital Chapter held its Seventh Annual Dinner Gala on October 29, 2016 at the Marriott Hotel in Greenbelt, Maryland. The event was attended by 320 members, guests and friends of the Association; and supported by 38 sponsoring companies. Three guest speakers (the Honorable Prince George's County Executive, Mr. Rushern Baker, III; Ms. Carla Reid, General Manager and CEO of the Washington Suburban and Sanitary Commission (WSSC); and Mr. Paul Comfort, Maryland Transit Administration's Administrator and CEO). Continuing the AAAEA’s tradition, four scholarships for a total of $4,000 were proudly awarded to four talented college students. Furthermore, AAAEA presented the "Bridge Award" to Mr. Abdullah (Adam) Jiroun, Chief of the Highway Maintenance Division in Prince George's County, Maryland for his outstanding effort as an Arab-American Engineer who has always assisted his Arab -American community and fellow engineers beyond and above expectation. AAAEA also presented the "Humanitarian Award" to Ms. Norma Nashed, an Arab American woman, who has dedicated her life to helping orphans in the USA and internationally. The event concluded with raffle prizes and 90-minute comedy sessions by Comedians Mona Aburmishan and Amer Zahr, and followed with music entertainment by DJ Elie.
